What Junior Sailing classes are available through TISC?

TISC offers a range of junior sailing classes designed to target a wide range of ages and skill levels in a variety of boats, all within a developmentally appropriate framework. Information on junior sailing classes is available through the Summer Camp section of our website.

How old does my child need to be to participate in Junior Sailing Program?

TISC has class options for children ages 6 to 18. Adult classes are also available.

What should my child bring to Junior Sailing Program?

TISC provides Students need to bring Wetsuits Closed-toe shoes Spray-gear Swimsuit Life-jackets Hat & sunscreen Water (from dispenser) Towel Snacks Packed lunch & snacks Own water bottle. Who qualifies for Junior Sailing scholarships?

Does TISC cancel Junior Sailing Program due to weather?

TISC Junior Sailing Program runs rain or shine. If conditions are deemed unsafe, classes will be canceled and parent will be notified by text through the Dial my Call.

How does TISC handle dismissal from Junior Sailing Program?

Prior to, or on the first day of Program, parents will complete a “Dismissal Form” for their child. This form will contain a list of the names of approved adults who are able to pick up the student from program. This form also allows for a notation regarding the student’s ability to take public transportation home by themselves. At the end of each day, students are signed-out and dismissed either to an approved adult or are allowed to walk to public transportation.

What adult sailing classes are available through TISC?

TISC offers a wide range of adult classes on a variety of boats including Adult Dinghy, Basic Keelboat 1, Skills Days, Advanced Keelboat, and private lessons. Information on all of these classes is available through our Adult page.

Is prior sailing experience required?

Prior sailing experience is generally not required unless specified in the course description (i.e. Advanced Keelboat or Skills Days).

Can I rent a paddleboard or kayak?

Yes. During the spring, summer, and fall TISC rents paddleboards and kayaks on weekends between 10am and 3pm. For more information please email programs@tisailing.org

Can I volunteer for TISC?

Yes! There are countless ways to help out regardless of whether or not you presently know how to sail. We are always in need of people who want to help out (for a day or for an entire project). Please email programs@tisailing.org for more information!

What is "Sponsor a Sailor"?

Imagine the independence a child feels the first time at the helm of a sailboat. Experiential learning is extremely important for building self-confidence and encouraging a child’s critical thinking. At the Treasure Island Sailing Center we provide the opportunity for children to learn these valuable lessons while cultivating a love for the sport of sailing. If you are a lifelong sailor or if you have dreamed of sailing on the bay you can appreciate the fantastic experiences a youngster will have by participating in our classes. You can contribute here!

What is TISC's privacy policies?

What is TISC's refund policy?

Refund Policy We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and count on your registration both to fund and staff our programs. We understand that sometimes a cancellation is unavoidable. Please be considerate of our time and efforts prior to registering. If you do need to cancel or transfer a course our policy is as follows: Before 30 Days – Full Refund Before 15 Days – 50% Refund 15 Days or less – No Refunds $25 Admin Fee – For Course Transfers
