The Treasure Island Sailing Center (TISC) strives to make sailing and watersports accessible to everyone regardless of background or abilities. We offer affordable sailing classes to adult sailors from beginner through advanced levels. Students can elect to take group classes or private lessons to learn the skills needed to successfully sail either keelboats or dinghies on the Bay. Families, groups, or individuals can take advantage of Community Sails on either Wednesdays or Saturdays. All instructors are US Sailing Certified and follow set curricula that combine lessons in water safety, knot tying, nomenclature, rigging and sail theory with on-the-water practice.

Adult Dinghy

01 adult dinghy

The best way to learn sailing is on a small boat. Students learn the basics on a capsize-able 16ft dinghy, including steering, sail trim, knots, right of way rules, crew overboard and terminology. This class offers a great mix of physical and mental exercise. Students should expect to swim and be prepared to intentionally capsize (flip over) the boat early in the course.
