Community Events

At TISC our goal is to remove financial barriers to sailing and by hosting these free community events we hope to grow the sport of sailing. The events below are designed to bring together our sailing community of students, friends, families, volunteers, supporters and staff. We highly recommend attending one of these events to enjoy a fun day of sailing and to learn more about our affordable programs and scholarships!

Opening Day: April 28, 2012
Celebrate Opening Day on the Bay at the Treasure Island Sailing Center with FREE sailboat rides, kayaking, and Stand Up Paddle Boarding! Enjoy music, games, food, and activities for the whole family. BBQ lunch will be available for $3 per person and $10 for a family of 4.
  
National Safe Boating Day: May 19, 2012
Join TISC for a day on the Bay and learn simple practices for water safety. Local organizations will be on hand to provide vessel safety checks, proper life jacket fit, and safe boating information. Watch a coast guard rescue demonstration and get more information on TISC sailing classes.Enjoy FREE sailboat rides, games, crafts, and fun for the whole family. A BBQ lunch will be provided for purchase by TISC.  The first 100 visitors to this event will receive a FREE life jacket!
 
Summer Learning Day: June 21, 2012 TISC partners with the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) to promote learning while on summer vacation. Students compete in fun, educational activities such as nautical terminology games, relay races and knot tying (and untying) contests. We focus on promoting education extra-curricular activities during the summer
 
Big Team Regatta: September 28, 2012
Treasure Island Sailing Center’s largest fundraiser of the year raising approximately $35,000 - $50,000 to support our youth and adaptive sailing scholarship program. The BIG Team regatta is a corporate sailing challenge held at OCSC Sailing in Berkeley.  The annual charity event draws local business executives from across the Bay Area to race performance sailboats, pitting against each others teams in the pursuit of glory, bragging rights, and opportunity to raise money for youth sailing.
 
Lights on Afterschool: October 18, 2012
Come join us at TISC to support Afterschool Programming Nationwide! Activities include free sailboat rides on J24s, nautical games, knot tying and more! This event is open to parents and children age 6-18 and all sailors must have liability form signed by a legal guardian.
